Major Train Blocks Updates

MAJOR TRAIN BLOCKS 2024

Indian Railway is conducting major train blocks for various reasons including rail maintenance, over bridge maintenance, platform renovation, doubling works, due to heavy rain etc. Even though we are updating the train cancellation details daily in some other pages, for more conveniences of readers we decided to mention the full details of the blocks with mentioning of station name , date, name of the railway zone which announced the blocks etc.

GANNAVARAM – MUSTABAD AND CHEBROL – BADAMPUDI STATIONS : TRAFFIC BLOCK UPTO 31.12.2024

South Central Railway has announced that, due to a traffic block between Gannavaram – Mustabad and Chebrol – Badampudi stations in the Vijayawada Division, the following trains will be diverted as per the details below:

The following train services will be diverted or restored on specific dates:

Train No. 12863 (Howrah – Bengaluru) will be diverted on the 11th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 20th, 21st, 23rd, and 24th of December. It will be diverted via Nidadavolu, Bhimavaram Town, Gudivada, and Vijayawada, and will not stop at Tadepalligudem and Eluru.
Train No. 13351 (Dhanbad – Alappuzha) will be diverted on the 10th, 16th, 17th, 20th, 21st, 23rd, and 24th of December.
Train No. 22837 (Hatia – Ernakulam) will be diverted on the 16th and 23rd of December, via Eluru.
Train No. 12835 (Hatia – Ernakulam) will be diverted on the 10th, 17th, and 24th of December. There are no stoppages eliminated for this diversion.
Train No. 12889 (Tatanagar – Bengaluru) will be diverted on the 20th of December, with no stoppages eliminated.
Train No. 18637 (Hatia – Bengaluru) will be diverted on the 21st of December, with no stoppages eliminated.
Train No. 11019 (Mumbai – Bhubaneswar) will be diverted on the 11th, 13th, 14th, 25th, 27th, 28th, and 30th of December. It will be diverted via Vijayawada, Gudivada, Bhimavaram Town, and Nidadavolu, and will not stop at Eluru and Tadepalligudem.
Train No. 17239 (Guntur – Visakhapatnam) will be diverted on the 26th, 28th, 29th, and 31st of December. It will be diverted via Nuzvid, Powerpet, Eluru, Bhimadolu, and Tadepalligudem.

TIRUCHCHIRAPPALLI – DINDIGUL SECTION : LINE BLOCK / POWER BLOCK UPTO 31.12.2024

Southern Railway announced that in view of Line Block/Power Block for facilitating engineering works in Tiruchchirappalli – Dindigul Section, the following changes have been made in pattern of Train Services:

Train No. 16848 Sengottai – Mayiladuthurai Express leaving Sengottai at 07.05 hrs on 12th, 14th, 17th, 28th, 31st December will be diverted to run via Virudunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi, Pudukkottai and Tiruchchirappalli skipping stoppages at Kalligudi, Tirumangalam, Tiruparankundram, Madurai, Kodaikanal Road, Dindigul, Vadamadura, Vaiyampatti and Manaparai. Additional stoppages will be provided at Manamadurai and Karaikkudi.
Train No. 16352 Nagercoil – Mumbai CST Express leaving Nagercoil at 06.15 hrs on 12th December, 2024 will be diverted to run via Virudunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi, Pudukkottai and Tiruchchirappalli skipping stoppages at Madurai and Dindigul. Additional stoppages will be provided at Manamadurai
Train No. 16128 Guruvayur – Chennai Egmore Express leaving Guruvayur at 23.15 hrs on 11th, 13th, 16th, 27th, 30th December, 2024, will be diverted to run via Virudunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi, Pudukkottai and Tiruchchirappalli skipping stoppages at Madurai, Sholavandan, Kodaikanal Road, Dindigul and Manaparai. Additional stoppages will be provided at Manamadurai.
Train No. 12666 Kanniyakumari – Howrah Superfast Express leaving Kanniyakumari at 05.50 hrs on 14th, 28th December, 2024 will be diverted to run via Virudunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi, Pudukottai and Tiruchchirappalli skipping stoppages at Madurai and Dindigul. Additional stoppage will be provided at Manamadurai
Train No. 16354 Nagercoil – Kacheguda Express leaving Nagercoil at 09.15 hrs on 14th, 28th December, 2024 will be diverted to run via Dindigul and Karur skipping stoppage at Tiruchchriappalli
Train No. 16847 Mayiladuthurai – Sengottai Express leaving Mayiladuthurai at 12.00 hrs on 14th December, 2024 will be diverted to run via Tiruchchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Karaikkudi, Manamadurai and Virudunagar skipping stoppage at Manapparai, Vaiyampatti, Vadamadurai, Dindigul, Kodaikanal Road, Madurai, Tirupparankundram, Tirumangalam and Kalligudi. Train No. 07435 Kacheguda – Nagercoil Express leaving Kacheguda at 19.45 hrs on 13th December, 2024 will be diverted to run via Tiruchchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Karaikkudi, Manamadurai and Virudunagar skipping stoppages at Dindigul and Madurai. Additional stoppage will be provided at Manamadurai

Train No. 16368 Banaras – Kanniyakumari Kashi Tamil Express scheduled to leave Banaras at 16.20 hrs on 29th December, 2024 is diverted to run via Tiruchchirappalli, Pudukottai, Manamadurai and Virudunagar skipping stoppages at Dindigul and Madurai. Additional stoppage will be provided at Manamadurai

Partial Cancellation/Short Termination of Train Services:

Train No. 22671 Chennai Egmore – Madurai Tejas Express leaving Chennai Egmore at 06.00 hrs on 28th, 31st December, 2024 will be partially cancelled between Tiruchchirpppalli and Madurai. The train will short terminate at Tiruchchirappalli
Train No. 16845 Erode – Sengottai Express leaving Erode at 14.00 hrs on 27th, 30th December, 2024 will be partially cancelled between Karur and Sengottai. The train will short terminate at Karur

Partial Cancellation/Change in Origin of Train Services

Train No. 22672 Madurai – Chennai Egmore Tejas Express leaving Madurai at 15.00 hrs on 28th, 31st December, 2024 will be partially cancelled between Madurai and Tiruchchirappalli. The train will commence journey from Tiruchchirappalli at its scheduled departure time of 17.05 hrs
Train No. 16846 Sengottai – Erode Express leaving Sengottai at 05.00 hrs on 28th, 31st December, 2024 will be partially cancelled between Sengottai and Karur. The train will commence service from Karur at its scheduled departure time of 13.30 hrs

Rescheduling of Train Service

Train No. 22631 Madurai – Bikaner Express scheduled to leave Madurai at 11.55 hrs on 12th December, 2024 will be rescheduled to leave Madurai at 14.00 hrs (Late by 2 hours 05 mins)
Train No. 22672 Madurai – Chennai Egmore Tejas Express scheduled to leave Madurai at 15.00 hrs on 14th, 17th December, 2024 will be rescheduled to leave Madurai at 15.30 hrs (Late by 30 mins)

JHUSI- PRAYAGRAJ RAMBAG OF BANARAS- PRAYAGRAJ JN. SECTION : TRAFFIC BLOCK UPTO 11.12.2024

Northern Railway has announced that due to a traffic block for patch doubling between Jhusi and Prayagraj Rambag in the Banaras–Prayagraj Junction section from December 8, 2024, to December 11, 2024, the following trains will be temporarily canceled, short-terminated, short-originated, or diverted as detailed below:

Train No. 22416 (New Delhi–Varanasi) will follow the same diversion route on 8th, 9th, and 11th December 2024.
Train No. 22435 (Varanasi–New Delhi) will be diverted via Varanasi–Janghai–Prayagraj Jn from 8th to 11th December 2024.
Train No. 22536 (Banaras–Rameswaram) will be diverted via Varanasi–Prayagraj Chheoki–Manikpur on 8th December 2024, skipping Gyanpur Road and Prayagraj Jn.
Train No. 22415, operating from Varanasi to New Delhi, will be diverted via Varanasi, Janghai, and Prayagraj Junction between December 9, 2024, and December 11, 2024. No stoppages will be made.
Train No. 12559, operating from Banaras to New Delhi, will be diverted via Banaras, Lohta, Janghai, and Prayagraj Junction from December 9, 2024, to December 10, 2024. The train will skip Gyanpur Road.
Train No. 11061, operating from LTT Mumbai to Jaynagar, will be diverted via Manikpur, Prayagraj Chheoki, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Jaunpur, and Aunrihar between December 8, 2024, and December 10, 2024. The train will skip Naini, Prayagraj Rambag, Prayagraj Junction, Gyanpur Road, Varanasi, Varanasi City, and Sarnath.
Train No. 19421, operating from Ahmedabad to Patna, will be diverted via Manikpur, Prayagraj Chheoki, Mirzapur, and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya on December 8, 2024. It will skip Prayagraj Junction, Prayagraj Rambag, Gyanpur Road, Varanasi, and Kashi.
Train No. 22669, operating from Ernakulam to Patna, will be diverted via Manikpur, Prayagraj Chheoki, Mirzapur, and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya on December 7, 2024. It will skip Prayagraj Junction, Prayagraj Rambag, Gyanpur Road, and Varanasi.
Train No. 11062, operating from Jaynagar to LTT Mumbai, will be diverted via Aunrihar, Jaunpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj Chheoki, Manikpur on December 9, 2024. It will skip Sarnath, Varanasi City, Varanasi, Gyanpur Road, Prayagraj Junction, Prayagraj Rambag, and Naini.
Train No. 19422, operating from Patna to Ahmedabad, will be diverted via Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Mirzapur, Prayagraj Chheoki, and Manikpur on December 10, 2024. It will skip Kashi, Varanasi, Gyanpur Road, Prayagraj Rambag, and Prayagraj Junction.
Train No. 22670, operating from Patna to Ernakulam, will be diverted via Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Mirzapur, Prayagraj Chheoki, and Manikpur on December 10, 2024. It will skip Varanasi, Gyanpur Road, Prayagraj Rambag, and Prayagraj Junction.
Train No. 12560, operating from New Delhi to Banaras, will be diverted via Prayagraj Junction, Janghai, Lohta, and Banaras on December 9, 2024, to December 10, 2024. It will skip Gyanpur Road.

Short-termination/Short-origination of trains

Train No. 12333, operating from Howrah to Prayagraj Rambag, will be short-terminated at Banaras from December 7, 2024, to December 11, 2024. The train will be canceled between Banaras and Prayagraj Rambag.
Train No. 12334, operating from Prayagraj Rambag to Howrah, will be short-originated from Banaras from December 8, 2024, to December 12, 2024. The train will be canceled between Prayagraj Rambag and Banaras.
Train No. 15004, operating from Gorakhpur to Kanpur Anwrganj, will be short-terminated at Banaras from December 8, 2024, to December 10, 2024. The train will be canceled between Banaras and Kanpur Anwrganj.

Northern Railway announced that due to Traffic block at Jhusi – Prayagraj Rambag stations, the following trains shall remain temporarily cancelled, short originate and terminate as under :-

Northern Railway has announced that due to a traffic block at Jhusi–Prayagraj Rambag stations, the following trains will be temporarily canceled, and some will have revised originating and terminating stations as detailed below.

KHURDA DIVISION : PRE NON INTERLOCKING/NON INTERLOCKING WORK UPTO 19.12.2024

East Coast Railway has announced the cancellation of train services due to pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking work at Bhadrak, which is being carried out for the commissioning of the third line in the Khurda Division. The details are as follows:

Train No.13301/13302 Dhanbad-Tatanagar-Dhanbad Express, Journey commencing on 08.12.2024, 09.12.2024, 11.12.2024 and 12.12.2024 will be short terminated at/short originated from Adra.

Diversion of Train

Train No.22892 Ranchi-Howrah Intercity Express, Journey commencing on 12.12.2024 will run on diverted route via Kotshila-Rajabera-Jamuniatand-Adra-Midnapore-Kharagpur.

ADRA DIVISION : DEVELOPMENT WORKS UPTO 15.12.2024

South Eastern Railway announced that in view of developmental works in Adra Division, the following trains will be regulated as under:

Cancellation of Trains :

Train No.08643/08644 Adra-Asansol-Adra MEMU will remain cancelled on 09.12.2024, 13.12.2024 and 14.12.2024 .

Diversion of Trains:

Train No.18601 Tatanagar-Hatia Express, Journey commencing on 09.12.2024, 11.12.2024 and 13.12.2024will run on diverted route via Chandil-Gunda Bihar-Muri.

Short-termination/Short origination of Trains:

Train No.03594/03593 Asansol-Purulia-Asansol MEMU, Journey commencing on10.12.2024, 12.12.2024 and 15.12.2024 will be short terminated at/short originated from Adra.

Central Railway, Mumbai Division announced that CR will operate special traffic and power blocks for NI works at Kasara Station for Extension and Widening of Platform no 1 and Extension of 3 R and D Lines in Down Yard. Western Railway announced that a Block will be taken on 7th, 11th, 15th, 16th and 18th November, 2024 for launching of Bow String Girder for construction of Road Over Bridge between Udvada – Vapi stations and Launching of girder between Udvada – Vapi and Atul – Valsad stations of Mumbai Central Division. The block will be undertaken on UP and Down Main Combined Line, due to which few Western Railway trains will be affected. Western Railway announced that a Block will be taken on 21st, 22nd and 24th, October and 1st, 4th, 8th, 9th and 11th November, 2024 for launching of Bow String Girder for construction of Road Over Bridge between Udvada – Vapi stations and Launching of girder between Atul – Valsad of Mumbai Central Division. Eastern Railway announced that in connection with pre non-interlocking and non-interlocking work at Domigarh station for Kusmhi – Gorakhpur Cantt. – Gorakhpur 3rd line work and automatic signalling work between Domingarh and Jagatbela of Gorakhpur – Gonda section in North Eastern Railway jurisdiction, following trains will be run via diverted route as under:-

PARBHANI – MUDKHED SECTION : TRAFFIC BLOCK UPTO 14.12.2024

South Central Railway has announced that due to a traffic block between the Parbhani – Mudkhed section of the Nanded Division, the following trains will be partially canceled or rescheduled as detailed below.

Partial Cancellations

Train No. 12788 (Nagarsol – Narsapur) will be partially canceled between Nagarsol and Rotegaon on 16th, 17th, 18th, and 20th October 2024. The train will originate from Rotegaon at 13:10 hrs on these dates.
Train No. 17232 (Nagarsol – Narsapur) will be partially canceled between Nagarsol and Rotegaon on 19th October 2024.

Regulation

Train No. 12716 (Amritsar – Nanded) will be regulated by 120 minutes between Aurangabad and Parbhani on 21st, 23rd, 25th, 30th October 2024, and 6th, 8th, 15th, 22nd November 2024, as well as 13th December 2024.
Train No. 17661 (Kacheguda – Nagarsol) will be regulated by 60 minutes between Mudkhed and Parbhani on 15th, 22nd, 24th, 26th, 31st October 2024, and 7th, 9th, 16th, 23rd November 2024.
Train No. 07600 (Parli – Akola) will be regulated by 30 minutes between Parli and Parbhani on 14th December 2024.

SURAT STATION : STATION REDEVELOPMENT WORK : TRAIN UPDATES UPTO 31.10.2025

Western Railway announced that Surat station is undergoing complete transformation and is being developed into world class station. Presently, the concourse work in connection with the Surat Station Redevelopment (Phase-I) on Platform No. 04 is in progress. In view of this, the ongoing block which was extended upto 30th September, 2024 has now been further extended for 6 months, i.e. upto March 2025. Accordingly, the terminal of few trains originating/departing from Surat railway station which was shifted to Udhna station has been further extended and will continue upto March 2025. This change of terminal shall provide operational flexibility, reduce congestion at Surat station, allow augmenting and upgradation of passenger services and enable faster execution of the ongoing infrastructural project in Surat. It is pertinent to mention that Udhna is about 07 km away & well connected by road. A total of eight originating passenger trains will be short originated from Udhna station instead of Surat station while nine terminating trains will be short terminated at Udhna station instead of Surat station. THANE STATION : TRAFFIC AND POWER BLOCKS ON MIDNIGHT OF 21/22.09.2024

Central Railway will carry out a special traffic and power block to remove the Chandni Bundar Public Foot Over Bridge (FOB) girders at Thane station. The block will impact the Up and Down Trans-Harbour lines and the 6th line, using a 140-ton crane.

Suburban trains to Vashi/Panvel from Thane between 10:01 PM and 12:05 AM will be cancelled.
Trains from Vashi at 9:37 PM and from Panvel at 11:18 PM heading to Thane will be cancelled.
The last train before the block on the Down Trans-Harbour line will leave Thane at 9:41 PM and reach Vashi at 10:10 PM.
The last train before the block on the Up Trans-Harbour line will leave Vashi at 9:24 PM and reach Thane at 9:53 PM.

First Trains After the Block:

The first train on the Down Trans-Harbour line will leave Thane at 5:12 AM and arrive in Panvel at 6:04 AM.
The first train on the Up Trans-Harbour line will depart from Vashi at 6:30 AM and arrive in Thane at 6:59 AM.

This block is required for the removal of the bridge girders, and train services will be temporarily impacted during this period.

AJNI STATION : MAJOR UPGRADATION WORK TRAIN BLOCK UPTO 10.12.2024

Central Railway has announced that its Nagpur Division will undertake significant upgrade work at Ajni Station to support ongoing station redevelopment. As part of this project, Platforms No. 2 and 3 will be closed for 90 days, from September 12, 2024, to December 10, 2024. The closure is necessary for construction activities, including foundation work and the erection of columns for the concourse and Foot Over Bridges (FOBs).

Due to this block, the following trains running towards Mumbai direction will not halt at Ajni Station during the block period. Passengers are advised to board and de-board these trains at Nagpur Station.

Now a days lot of trains are having loose times which can be utilized for eg train no 17031
Mumbai Hyderabad express right time at solapur is 22.05 22.15 but it will come at 22.55 and leaves at 23.05 almost 40mts late but will arrive Hyderabad at 5.45 am instead of 5.55am
Similarly train no 17319 which leaves secunderabad at 15.40 reaches at 22.10 to Hotgi and departs at 23.10 reaches Gadag at 5.20 leaves Gadag at 6.10 am and reaches Hubli at 7.25 am.The timings can be changed so that the train can reach Hubli at 6.50am.

Train no 11304 reaches Dharwar at 15.15 and reaches Hubballi at 15.50 leaves at 16.15 and reaches Guntakal at 22.00 arrives at 4.20at vikarabad . If you cutshort halt at Hubli and other the train can reach 5.45 am secunderabad.

Suddenly all the trains were cancelled causing inconvenience to passengers and the railway in one line regretted. The works as informed could have been segregated.
Today I am stuck at Guwahati as our train was cancelled. We were in a group of about 100 passengers, going to Odisha, about 1000 KM's most are senior citizens and ladies booked tickets in the month of February 19. The plight can be well imagined. The train was cancelled abruptly with out prior information. The train could be rescheduled/diverted as the train covers long route.
