MAJOR TRAIN BLOCKS 2023

Indian Railway is conducting major train blocks for various reasons including rail maintenance, over bridge maintenance, platform renovation, doubling works, due to heavy rain etc. Even though we are updating the train cancellation details daily in some other pages, for more conveniences of readers we decided to mention the full details of the blocks with mentioning of station name , date, name of the railway zone which announced the blocks etc.

THANE STATION : TRAFFIC AND POWER BLOCK ON 30.09.2023/01.10.2023

Central Railway announced that Special traffic and power block to be operated for launching of four Girders for 5.00 M wide FOB at CSMT End of Thane station PF 1 & PF 2 involving DN Local Line (Span-2) at km 32/21- 22 using Road Crane.

The Block is to be operated as under:

• Thane station- Has 5 Foot Over Bridges. 6th FOB (CSMT end) block under progress.
• Total girder launching spans- 7 (from PF no.10 to 1)
• Completed Spans- 5 (From Platform no. 10 to 3)
• Date of block: 30.09.2023/01.10.2023 (Saturday/Sunday night time)
• Duration of Block :00.30-05.30 =05.00 hrs.
• Traffic Block Section: DNLL: MLND (Excluding Xovers) to KLVA (Excluding PFs)
• 6th span girder launching block at PF no. 2 & 1 on 30.09.23/01.10.23 (Sat/Sun night) from 00.30 hrs to 05.30 hrs.

Working of suburban trains during the block period:-

Diversion of DN Slow Suburban trains:- DN Slow Line suburban trains from S 41 CSMT Dep. 23.30 to N 3 CSMT Dep. 04.19 will be diverted on DNTH line between MLND & DIVA stations halting at TNA, KLVA and MBQ stations.

• From DN slow Karjat local departing CSMT at 23.30 hrs to DN slow Kasara local departing CSMT at 04.19 hrs will be diverted on DN Fast line between Mulund-Diva stations halting Thane, Kalva and Mumbra stations.
• Last local before block on slow line in Mulund-Diva- DN Slow Titwala local departing CSMT at 23.16 hrs and will arrive Titwala at 01.00 hrs.
• First local after block on Slow line in Mulund-Diva- DN Titwala local departing from Vidyavihar at 05.11 hrs and will arrive Titwala at 06.23 hrs.

PANVEL SUBURBAN : A 38 HRS TRAIN BOCK FROM 30.09.2023 TO 02.10.2023

Central Railway has announced a 38-hour traffic block on both the UP and DOWN lines between Belapur (excluding) and Panvel (including), starting from 23:00 hrs on September 30, 2023, and ending at 13:00 hrs on October 2, 2023. This block is scheduled for the remodelling work of the Panvel suburban yard, which involves the construction of two new lines for the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor

The Repercussion of Harbour line Suburban Trains during the Block period are as under-

• Suburban services will not be available between Belapur and Panvel Station on Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines during the block period.
• Up and Down suburban services on Harbour line will be short terminated/originated at Belapur, Nerul and Vashi stations.
• Up and Down suburban services on Trans- Harbour line will run between Thane and Nerul/Vashi stations only.
• Last local train for Panvel on Down Harbour line before the start of Block will leave CSMT at 21.02 hrs and will reach Panvel at 22.22 hrs on 30.09.2023.
• Last local train leaving Panvel on Up Harbour line before the Block will leave Panvel at 22.35 hrs and will reach CSMT at 23.54 hrs on 30.09.2023.
• Last local train for Panvel on Down Trans-Harbour line before the Block will leave Thane at 21.36 hrs and will reach Panvel at 22.28 hrs on 30.09.2023.

KANYAKUMARI : TRAIN MEGA BLOCK UPTO 30.10.2023

Southern Railway has officially confirmed the analysis of the revised proposal pertaining to the Line/Power Block associated with the Diversion and Remodeling project at Kanyakumari Yard, as mentioned in the reference provided. The competent authority has given approval for the scheduled blocks and mega block, which are essential for the commissioning of the yard remodelling at Kanyakumari. These activities are scheduled to take place from October 14, 2023, to October 30, 2023, and will have the following coaching repercussions on specific days and timings.

NEW KATNI STATION : YARD REMODELLING AND ELECTRONIC INTERLOCKING WORK FROM 21.09.2023 TO 04.10.2023

The South East Central Railway has unveiled plans for infrastructure enhancement at New Katni station. This project encompasses yard remodeling and the implementation of electronic interlocking systems. The scheduled timeline for these improvements is set from September 21, 2023, to October 4, 2023. As a consequence of these developments, certain passenger train services within the purview of the South East Central Railway network will experience operational changes. Details regarding the affected trains are as follows:

• Train No. 15231 Barauni running from Barauni from 29th September 2023 to 03rd October 2023- Gondia Express will run on the changed route via Katni-Jabalpur- Kachhpura-Gondia route.
• From 29 September 2023 to 03 October 2023, 15232 Gondia-Barauni Express running from Gondia will be changed via Gondia-Kachpura-Jabalpur-Katni route

Trains Terminating/Starting before Destination

• From 21st September 2023 to 04th October 2023, train number 08747/08748 Bilaspur-Katni-Bilaspur MEMU special will terminate/start at Jhalwara station and will remain canceled between Jhalwara-Katni-Jhalwara.

VALSAD – SURAT SECTION : SIX HOURS TRAIN BLOCK ON 26.09.2023

The Western Railway has scheduled a 6-hour block on September 26, 2023, starting from 09:00 hrs and ending at 15:00 hrs. This block is essential for the commissioning of Electronic Interlocking work at Vedchha Yard. The block will be in effect between the Valsad and Surat stations, leading to temporary regulation of certain Western Railway trains. Below is the list of these affected trains:

BALLARI RAILWAY STATION : TRAIN DIVERSION UPTO 24.10.2023

South Western Railway announced that due to the suspension of passenger train movement o­n platform-3 for o­n-going improvement works at Ballari railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Train Nos. 16217/16218 Mysuru – Sainagar Shirdi – Mysuru Weekly Express will be diverted for a period of 4 days, as detailed below:

• Train No. 16217 Mysuru-Sainagar Shirdi Weekly Express, leaving from Mysuru o­n 02.10.23, 09.10.23, 16.10.23 & 23.10.23 will be diverted to run via Obalapuram, Ballari Bypass Cabin, Ballari Cantonment and Kudatini stations, skipping stoppage at Ballari Junction.
• Train No. 16218 Sainagar Shirdi-Mysuru Weekly Express, leaving from Sainagar Shirdi o­n 03.10.23, 10.10.23, 17.10.23 & 24.10.23 will be diverted to run via Kudatini, Ballari Cantonment, Ballari Bypass Cabin and Obalapuram stations, skipping stoppage at Ballari Junction.
• These trains (16217/18) will be provided with five minute temporary stoppages at Ballari Cantonment Station for the convenience of passengers.

NEW KATNI JN – YARD REMODELLING WORK UPTO 04.10.2023

Northern Railway has made an announcement regarding the approval of Pre-Non-Interlocking (Pre-NI) work on GC-1, GC-2, GC-5, and the Main Line at New Katni Junction, as well as Non-Interlocking (NI) work throughout the New Katni Yard in connection with Electrical Interlocking (EI) and yard remodelling. Consequently, there will be changes in the schedules of train services, including cancellations, diversions, and short-terminations, during both the Pre-NI and NI phases.

• Loco changes for through running trains at NKJ will not be scheduled.
• No inspections will be conducted in the departure yard and the new yard in accordance with DCN.
• Crew changes must be completed within two minutes on both the main line and loop line. SECR is responsible for ensuring this by counseling the Loco Pilots of SDL/HQ of BSP division. Additionally, a team consisting of Loco Inspectors and Traffic Inspectors will be stationed at NKJ to monitor this around the clock.
• Invalid BOX-N from any direction to NKJ will not be accepted from D-2 until commissioning.
• At least five long-haul trains must be received daily from NCR and SECR for down and up directions, respectively. Long-haul trains from SECR should have a proficient crew until SGO.
• No maintenance work will be conducted on the main line. If necessary, maintenance work will be carried out at KMZ and KTKD. The C&W department will deploy staff accordingly.
• No locomotives are to be planned for movement into or out of the shed unless there is an extreme emergency during the NI period.
• Trains involving reversal (BSP-SGRL or SGRL-BSP) will not be accepted from SECR/ECR during the NI period.
• Trains traveling between BSP to NAG and NAG to BSP will not pass through NKJ during the NI period. Itarsi-bound trains like PSSS and NSPN may be rerouted via Jujharpur or through KMZ-SGO-BINA.
• Goods trains bound for ET from ECR need to be diverted via the KMZ-BINA section.
• No diverted or incorrectly routed trains will be accepted from BSP/ECR.
• POL (Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants) movements to/from the shed will be restricted during the NI period.
• Mixed-load trains will not be accepted from BSP/DHN/BPL.
• Itarsi-bound trains like PSSS and NSPN may be rerouted via Jujharpur instead of NKJ.
• A minimum of 12 trains per day in each direction to/from BSP should be operated as crack trains.
• All loaded traffic (except power house coal) should be limited to routes via MAKR-NKJ-SDL, MKP-NKJ-SDL, OHAN-NKJ-SDL, JBP-NKJ-SDL, and NKJ-MHDA during the NI period.
• Invalid Jumbos will not be accepted at MTJ & BXN points from NCR due to additional BOXN examinations at Kota.

POWERKHEDA – JUJHARPUR : TRAIN BLOCK upto 01.10.2023

Railway announced that cancellation of trains during NI of JUH in connection with PRKD – JUH fly over in of Bhopal Division.

KANDIVALI STATION : CLOSURE OF NORTH STAIRCASE OF MIDDLE FOB FROM 22.09.2023

Western Railway announced that in conjunction with the station improvement project at Kandivali station, there is a plan to expand the middle Foot Overbridge (FOB) by an additional 4 meters on its northern side. To facilitate this expansion, the north staircase serving Platform No. 2/3 & 4 will be removed. Consequently, this staircase will be temporarily closed starting from September 22, 2023. Passengers are advised to utilize the south-side staircase on the FOB during the construction period.

NERAL AND KARJAT – BADLAPUR SECTION TRAIN BLOCK ON 16/17.09.2023

Central Railway has informed that, on the night of Saturday, 16th, and Sunday, 17th, from 01:00 AM to 04:00 AM, there will be a disruption in train services at Neral station due to a thick web switch block and maintenance work on shadow tracks in the Karjat – Badlapur section.

Diversion of DN / UP Mail / Express Trains along with route.

• Train No.11041 Dadar-Shirdi DN Express departed at 23.55 will be diverted via Panvel – Karjat and will be handed over at LNL 20-30 late.
• Train No.12702 Hyderabad-CSMT UP Express arrival 04.55 will diverted via Karjat – Panvel and will arrive destination 15-20 late.
• Train No.11020 Bhuvaneshwar – CSMT UP Express CSMT arrival 04.00 will be diverted via Karjat – Panvel and will arrive destination 20-30 late.
• Train No.18519 Vishakhapatnam – LTT UP Express arrival at 04.15 will be diverted via Karjat – Panvel and will arrive destination 30-40 late.

Will be diverted today night via Panvel-Karjat route. Their Kalyan station halt will be skipped. And Thane station halt will be given.

• 11140 Hospet-CSMT UP Express will arrive 40 min late at CSMT.

Suburban train cancellations-

• Last local before block Ex CSMT for Karjat – KP17 CSMT dept 23.18 hrs KHPI 01.38.
• Last local for CSMT before the block EX Karjat – S6 Karjat dept 04.28 hrs CSMT are 06.49.

Short – termination / Origination of Suburban Services during the block period

• S41 Karjat local- CSMT dept 23.30 hrs will run upto Ambernath instead of Karjat.
• S1 Karjat local – CSMT dept 00.24 hrs will run upto Badlapur instead of Karjat.
• S2 Karjat local will run from Badlapur at 03.06 hrs.
• S4 Karjat local will run from Ambarnath at 04.20 hrs.

JHANSI DIVISION : TRAFFIC BLOCK UPTO 30.09.2023

The Eastern Railway has issued a statement regarding scheduled non-interlocking work at Dumka from September 15, 2023, to September 18, 2023, outlining the following adjustments in train operations:

Central Railway has announced that the Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway is engaged in infrastructure work related to the Pre-Non-interlocking and Non-interlocking procedures for the commissioning of the 3rd Line between Makudi-Sirpur Town-Sirpur Kagznagar stations in the Kagaznagar – Ballarshah section.

Eastern Railway announced that Yard remodeling work in Railways involves restructuring and optimizing rail yards for enhanced efficiency and functionality. This includes track realignment, installation of advanced signaling systems, upgrading infrastructure implementing automation to streamline operations. Such improvement lead to better train movement, reduce conjection and improved overall rail network performance. Accordingly, Non Interlocking work in connection with Gorakhpur  Cantt. yard remodeling and commissioning of third line between Gorakhpur Cantt and Kusmhi stations over North Eastern Railway has been planned  from 06.09.2023 to 11.09.2023. Diversion o­n 07.09.2023:

• 13017/13018 Howrah – Azimganj – Howrah Ganadevta Express will be diverted via Bandel- Katwa- Azimganj with stoppages at Bandel, Nabadwip Daham, Katwa, Azimganj. 

Inconvenience to be caused to the passengers is deeply regretted.

Moreover, o­ne additional passenger train  will run between Azimganj & Takipur (leaving  Azimganj & Takipur at 05:55 hrs. & 07:00 hrs respectively) from 04.09.2023 to 07.09.2023. Azimganj- Rampurhat – Azimganj shuttle MEMU local (leaving Azimganj & Rampurhat at 05:55 hrs & 09:00 hrs. respectively)  will run upto 03.09.2023 instead of 06.09.2023 which was informed earlier and Two (02) shuttle MEMU locals between Azimganj & Takipur (leaving Azimganj at 09:20 hrs. & 16:45 hrs. and leaving Takipur at 10:45 hrs. & 18:00 hrs) will be extended upto 07.09.2023 instead of 06.09.2023.

Eastern Railway announced that due to pre non-interlocking / non-interlocking works in connection with the 3rd line commissioning between Rampurhat & Chatra Station from 19.8.2023 to 06.09.2023 as notified earlier, Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division has planned for additional regulation of some trains.

Now it is decided to cancel o­ne (01) pair additional passenger trains of which 01 passenger from Barddhaman ( Train No. 03469) and 01 passenger from Barharwa ( Train No. 03470) o­n 31.08.2023 and 12514 Guwahati – Secunderabad Superfast Express (Malda arrival o­n 31.08.2023) & 22504 Dibrugarh – Kanniyakumari Vivek Express ( Malda arrival o­n 28.08.2023 & 06.09.2023) will be diverted via Azimganj, Katwa, Nabadwip Dham, Bandel, Howrah, Andul with stoppages at Jangipur Road ,Azimganj, Katwa, Nabadwip Dham, Bandel & Howrah stations.

Moreover, 22503 Kanniyakumari – Dibrugarh Vivek Express (Andul departure o­n 02.09.2023 ) will be diverted via Andul, Howrah, Bandel, Katwa, Azimganj with stoppages at Howrah, Bandel, Nabadwip Dham, Katwa, Azimganj, Jangipur Road stations instead of 03.09.2023.

Eastern Railway announced that due to pre non-interlocking / non-interlocking works in connection with the 3rd line commissioning between Rampurhat & Chatra Station from 19.8.2023 to 06.09.2023, Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division has planned to regulate some trains which was informed through earlier press notification.

Now it is decided to cancel Two (02) additional passenger trains of which 01 passenger from Rampurhat ( Train No. 03081) and 01 passenger from Jasidih( Train No. 03082) o­n & from 19.08.2023 to 06.09.2023.

Moreover, 6 pairs of Shuttle Emu Locals will run between Barddhaman & Tarapith Road station instead of 04 pairs for the convenience of passengers. Barddhaman – Tarapith Road special trains will leave Barddhaman at 04:00 hrs., 07:25 hrs., 09:10 hrs. , 13:20 hrs., 16:45 hrs., 18:35 hrs. and Tarapith Road – Barddhaman special trains will leave Tarapith Road station at 06:30 hrs., 09:45 hrs., 11:50 hrs., 16:00 hrs., 19:10 hrs., 21:00 hrs.

In addition to these, 12515 UP Coimbatore Junction-Silchar Express will leave Andul at 08:30 hrs. o­n 05.09.2023 will be diverted via Andul-Howrah-Bandel-Katwa-Azimganj with stoppage at Howrah-Bandel-Nabadwip Dham-Katwa-Azimganj-Jangipur Road.

Additional Regulation of Trains from 18.08.2023 to 30.08.2023

Eastern Railway announced that reference to earlier notification regarding arrangements in train running for 13 days Pre Non-Interlocking work in Rampurhat-Sahibganj section, the following additional regulation of trains have been made.

• Train No.22512 Dn Kamakhya-Mumbai LTT Karmabhoomi Express (Malda Town Arr. on 20.08.2023 & 27.08.2023) will be diverted via Azimganj-Katwa-Nabadwip Dham-Bandel-Howrah-Andul with stoppages at Jangipur Road, Azimganj. Katwa, Nabadwip Dham, Bandel and Howrah.
• Train No.12504 Dn Humsafar Express (Malda Town Arr. on 20.08.2023) will be diverted via Azimganj-Katwa-Bandel-Howrah-Andul with stoppages at Jangipur Road, Azimganj, Katwa, Nabadwip Dham, Bandel & Howrah.
• The arrival of 13024 Dn Gaya – Howrah Express (Kiul arr. on 18.08.2023 to 30.08.2023) at Kiul will be rescheduled at 19:00 hrs. and will be diverted via Kiul-Asansol – Barddhaman -Bandel with stoppage at Jasidih, Madhupur, Asansol, Durgapur, Barddhaman and Bandel as per earlier notification.
• All diverted trains from Bandel-Katwa-Azimganj & Vice Versa from 18.08.2023 to 30.08.2023

Rampurhat – Chatra Pre Non-Interlocking / Non-Interlocking Work From 18.8.2023 To 06.09.2023

Eastern Railway announced that the commissioning of a 3rd Line in railways provides a wide range of benefits, from increase capacity and reliability to economy growth and environmental sustainability. For bringing more operational flexibility, works related to 3rd line commissioning will continue between Rampurhat & Chatra from 18.8.2023. In connection with this 3rd line commissioning, pre non-interlocking / non-interlocking work will continue at Rampurhat, Swadinpur, Nalhati and Chatra station over Rampurhat – Sahibganj section from 18.8.2023 to 06.09.2023.

Consequently, train services will be regulated from 18.08.2023 to 06.09.2023 as under:

• 10 Pairs of Mail Express Trains will remain cancelled o­n different dates between 18.08.2023 & 06.09.2023.
• 18 up and 14 down Mail/Express trains will be diverted via Bandel – Katwa – Azimganj with provision of additional stoppages o­n different dates between 18.08.2023 & 06.09.2023.
• 15 passenger trains from Rampurhat, 04 passenger trains from Barddhaman, 05 passenger trains from Azimganj, 02 passenger trains from Sahibganj & 01 passgenger train each from Barharwa, Katwa, Andal & Howrah will remain cancelled from 18.08.2023 to 06.09.2023.
• Moreover, service of 01 passenger train will be extended, 01 pair passenger train will be short terminated/short originated & 01 passenger train will be rescheduled from 18.08.2023 to 06.09.2023.

RUNNING OF SHUTTLE EMU LOCALS FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF THE PASSENGERS:

• One pair of passenger special train will run between Azimganj & Rampurhat leaving Azimganj at 05:55 hrs. & leaving Rampurhat at 09:00 hrs.
• Two pairs of special trains will run between Azimganj & Takipur leaving Azimganj at 09:20 hrs. & 16:45 hrs. and leaving Takipur at 10:45 hrs. & 18:00 hrs.
• 4 pairs of special trains will run between Barddhaman & Tarapith Road stations. Barddhaman – Tarapith Road special train will leave Barddhaman at 9.10 hrs., 14.35 hrs., 16.45 hrs. , 18:30 hrs. & Tarapith Road – Barddhaman special train will leave Tarapith Road station at 11.40 hrs., 17.20 hrs., 19.10 hrs., 21:00 hrs.
• All UP & Down special tourism trains passing through Rampurhat-Gumani will be diverted via Azimganj- Bandel-Katwa.

Now it is decided to cancel Two (02) additional passenger trains of which 01 passenger from Rampurhat ( Train No. 03081) and 01 passenger from Jasidih( Train No. 03082) o­n & from 19.08.2023 to 06.09.2023.

Moreover, 6 pairs of Shuttle Emu Locals will run between Barddhaman & Tarapith Road station instead of 04 pairs for the convenience of passengers. Western Railway announced that Marine Lines South Foot Over Bridge (FOB) connects Platform No. 2/3 and 4 at south side and is also directly connected to Marine Lines ROB from which passengers enter the station. This FOB is being dismantled and a new FOB will be rebuilt at the same location.

The Marine Lines South Foot Over Bridge has completed its codal life and inorder to undertake the dismantling and rebuilding work, the FOB will be closed for public use from 15/02/2023 to 30/11/2023. It is further informed that to interchange between PF No. 4 to PF No. 2/3 or vice versa, passengers can use the other two FOBs at Marine Lines station, i.e. Middle and North side FOBs. For passengers entering from Marine Lines ROB, an opening will be provided at the booking office at PF No. 1 where passengers can enter the station or passengers can use the staircase from ROB near PF No. 4 to enter the station at PF No. 4.
